Gribbles Covert Pond will not close in March as was advertised in the latest newsletter. We have decided to keep the pond open, however, there will be work going on so there may be occasions of noise disturbance. The pond will close for a week later this year to allow our head bailiff to sort out the leak when the levels get lower.

As most of our members will be aware, Gribbles Covert pond is suffering during the warmer months with low water levels due to a leak, which has been identified around the outlet waterfall and the two fishing platforms on the far bank closest to the waterfall.
At the moment we do have Gribbles Covert Pond scheduled to Close in March so that Brian can rectify the problem, plus do some additional work required.
If in late February / early March we suffer heavy rainfall, which would hamper our attempts to sort out the leak, we may postpone the work until late April/early May as Brian will need to lower the water level of the pond in order to get to the leak itself, which would require a heavy duty water pump should the pond be at high level and which is very expensive to hire.
So in short, we may need to alter the pond closure dates at short notice, which will obviously be put on the web site, forum, facebook and twitter, plus we will put notices up on the lake notice boards.

It seems there has been some misinformation given to members regarding the one rod rule at Barry Ponds. We are investigating from where the wrong information came from, but all members please be aware that the rule has not changed and the rule for Barry ponds is still ONE ROD ONLY. Should the rule change, members will be notified via the Club Web Site, Club Forum and Notice Boards, plus in the next Newsletter.

This seasons Fish of the Year award will close April 30th 2012. This Award scheme is open to all Club members and is not just about weights of fish. It also takes into consideration what fish and where it was caught. The only constraint is that entries are only considered if your catch is from a GAC Club Water.
We have received several entries so far, from both Junior and Senior members, which will be decided for Junior and Senior winners by members attending the 2012 AGM. Winners receive a years free Club license for both junior ans senior entries.
If you catch a good fish, no matter what species, there is still time so don't be shy and enter it with our online entry form.

The Club would like to thank Rob Crews Rees for organizing the fund raising fishing day at Treoes Pond for the Thomas Wish To Walk Campaign. The total raised on the day was £360.00, which is fantastic news. The rain never eased up all day and no one or their fishing gear was left dry, however, there were some very good catches weighed in despite the awful weather conditions.
