Fishing in the Ely estuary.
By Jason Clowes.
From the start of Leckwith woods by Ely race course to the dogs home Penarth
road .
The fishing is very hard , the only time it fishes well is when there
is colour in the water or when its getting dark. In the winter forget
about fishing you will be lucky to catch a cold. It starts picking up
in march when lots of big chub start to show. Maggots, worms, bread
are the main baits the fish go for.
In the summer you can expect to catch plenty of roach, rudd, dace,
grayling, chub, gudgeon, eel, trout, perch, and a couple of carp,
barbel and pike show now and again. Salmon, sea trout appear in the
summer along with mullet and flat fish.
2nd July 2008.

48 Hour
Charity Competition 2006.
|
The thought of trying to fish for 48 hours, well, that sounded like a
bit of a challenge. Or was it just complete madness.
The only way to tell was to go and witness the event myself, so
that’s exactly what I did!
Please CLICK
HERE to read the full story which was very kindly written by club
member Nick. A big thank you goes to Nick who did a 3 hour drive to
spend the weekend in Bridgend, just to make this report happen. What a
great job he did!
